Our Mission
The ZeroTail Infrastructure Grant provides free, privacy-respecting, and decentralized digital infrastructure to those conducting vital research, learning new technologies, or building non-profit communities. We believe secure, reliable communication and compute power should not be gated by corporate monopolies. We reclaim spaces on the internet by offering our spare capacity to those who need it most.
Core Principles
- Accessibility over Profit: We provide hardware resources completely free of charge to verified applicants.
- Federation and Independence: We support decentralized, open-source software that breaks reliance on corporate tech giants.
- Privacy and Security: We do not mine your data, serve ads, or track your users, except as strictly necessary to prevent abuse or comply with legal obligations.
- Mutual Aid: This project is powered by the spare capacity of ZeroTail LLC. We share what we have, and we ask that you use it to create public value.
How the Grant Works
Instead of letting our spare hardware sit idle, we provision it dynamically to approved applicants. Whether you are a student learning to code, an independent researcher analyzing data, or a registered non-profit organizing your community, we want to provide the foundation for your work.
Resources are provided strictly on an “as is” and “best effort” basis. Because this program relies on surplus capacity, it operates independently from the commercial Service Level Agreements, privacy certifications, and uptime guarantees of our paid hosting tiers. We do not offer permanent guarantees, but we do promise a 14-day notice period and migration assistance if we ever need to retire your assigned hardware.
Ready to Apply?
